turnthepage: the remix edition

This is an article I've fancied doing for a while, well not necessarily that big a feature, just introduce you all to some of my favourite remixes. The deciding factor in deciding to do this, was hearing a remix of Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics. The Noisia Bootleg Remix of the track, makes this track so much more enjoyable, and this drum n bass remix is shooting its way pretty high in my favourite dance tracks ever.

For someone, whom three years ago would listen to nothing but indie, you come quite a long way when you start listening to dance music. It first happened on the way to my first Glastonbury, in 2005, and Jo Whiley played Slam by Pendulum. I had never before heard drum n bass in a way I really liked, but here it was. I was amazed. This of course gave me hope for the genre, and I went on the search.

The most promising thing I found, was when I stumbled across a remix of Blue Orchid by High Contrast, which still remains my faovurite remix to date. The drum n bass re working of a track I loved beforehand was so new to me and of course led me into other remixes he'd done, notably his ones with The Streets. High Contrast therefore is whom this main article is going to get credit too. Featured is my favourite Streets remix, the shorter version (and maybe the longer version soon if I want to upload both), the White Stripes remix that got me into drum n bass properly, the new Missy Elliot remix and this year's Imogen Heap remix as well. I've left off his Gold Digger remix because I honestly don't consider it to be any good.

Penultimately, I lend some space to a newish remix by Jakob Carrison, who remixed Smack My Bitch Up to a state that I actually enjoy it. I'm not a very big Prodigy fan at all, but this remix is fantastic.

And finally, to the dance/trance/eurotrance/whatever act that I've fallen for this year, inbetween all the melodic guitar-driven indie pop that I usually listen to. Sash! captured my heart accidentally this year, when I was listening to a friend's compilation. My first thought on Adelante was the music almost felt like The Knife in places, so I downloaded more.
